An immigrant, Commissioner Mariyana Spyropoulos was raised on the South Side of Chicago. She is the first of her immediate family to go to college. She has a Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School/UIC and Masters in Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago. Commissioner Rogers was first elected in 2004 in his first run for public office by citizens from the south and west sides of Cook County who were tired of “politics as usual” and wanted a Commissioner who would provide them with an honest, ethical and transparent government.
