COOK COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT Howard B. Brookins, Jr.

Howard B. Brookins Jr. has a distinguished career advocating for the pursuit of justice and public service. Serving as the Alderman of the 21st Ward since 2003, he’s been a tireless advocate for economic development, education, and reinvestment in his community.

He has practiced law for well over thirty years and frequently appeared on behalf of the people of Cook County and private clients in courts throughout Illinois. A former Assistant Public Defender, Assistant States Attorney, Special Assistant Attorney General, and candidate for Cook County State’s Attorney, Alderman Brookins is well-versed in all facets of the legal system.

Howard currently serves as Chairman of the City of Chicago’s Committee on Transportation and Public Way. He also still practices law through The Law Office of Howard B. Brookins Jr.

Alderman Brookins is a graduate of Mendel Catholic High School. He received a degree in mortuary science from Southern Illinois College in Carbondale and his Juris Doctorate from Northern Illinois University College of Law.  He actively supports numerous organizations in his community and he is proud to volunteer his time with the Prince Hall Mason Eureka Lodge #64 and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

He is a devoted husband to Ebonie Taylor-Brookins, and a proud father of two great young men, Howard B. Brookins III, and Harihson B. Brookins.
