Biography:
Kelly Cassidy has served as the Democratic Committeeperson of the 49th Ward since 2019. Cassidy also serves as the State Representative of the 14th district which includes the communities of Rogers Park, Edgewater, Andersonville, and West Ridge since 2011. She’s the only openly gay member of the Illinois House and works to coordinate with other openly LGBTQ+ electeds locally and nationally to ensure policy coordination across jurisdictions and highlight best practices to replicate. Her legislative and political work have primarily focused on principles of equity and equality, access to reproductive and gender affirming care, criminal justice reform, and government transparency.
