
Biography:
Maria Punzo Arias is a respected leader and dedicated public servant who made history as the first Hispanic Town Clerk in the Town of Cicero. Born in Mexico City and raised in Cicero for over five decades, she is a proud graduate of Morton East High School and studied Social Science at Ashford University.
Maria began her public service career in 1995 with the Cicero Water Department, earning a reputation for integrity and commitment. She was elected to the Cicero Town Board in 2003, where she championed transparency, accountability, and community-focused initiatives, while also serving on the Clyde Park District Board. In 2011, she was elected Town Clerk, where she has modernized operations and expanded access to services for residents. Most recently, she was elected as the Democratic Committeeperson for Cicero Township.
A devoted wife, mother of three, and proud grandmother of six. Maria remains deeply committed to her family and community. Her leadership reflects a lifelong dedication to serving the people of Cicero with pride, compassion, and purpose.
