Cook County Democratic Party Stands with the will of the Voters; Reiterates Support for Cam Davis for Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Vacancy

Party Chair Toni Preckwinkle to file a motion to intervene in Circuit Court

Statement from Chair Toni Preckwinkle:

The Cook County Democratic Party stands with the 54,183 Cook County Democrats who cast a write-in vote for Cam Davis, the Democratic nominee for Metropolitan Water Reclamation elected in March. We are dismayed that Governor Rauner continues to insist that his hand-picked appointee for this position should serve through 2020. This week I will be filing a motion to intervene in this matter in Circuit Court in my capacity as Party Chair. I will publicly state my support of the position that the law makes clear -- Cam Davis is the Democratic nominee, and the voters should decide the fate of the 2-year vacancy of the Hon. Tim Bradford at the ballot box in November.

The Cook County Democratic Party serves to attract, endorse, and support qualified Democratic candidates for office, to develop positions on issues of public importance, to advance the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party, and to seek to improve the lives of the people of Cook County through effective, efficient and fair government.
